The Moon Changing Signs

The Moon has entered Aries like a refreshing clear after a Piscean haze. While we may not hear the voice of the angels, the pioneering spirit of consciousness is ready to led us out of the cave and into new emotional experiences. Our Sun shines from Cancer, the maternal sign associated with the deeply personal 4th house, so above our fierce, self-propelled emotional landscape is the need to identify with family and a personal network. Just another day? 

True, the mood of the Moon is transient lasting only 2 1/2 days though if you pay attention, you may be surprised at the subtle shifts in the emotional orientation. Just as you seem to be settling into Aries, and the experiences which correspond to its house placement in its own chart, you'll find that it moves into Taurus. The button of the long holiday weekend will have us relaxing into an earthier spirit, perhaps less ready to take on the world but more available to dig our toes in the dirt and enjoy simplicity after the roaring of a fire sign moon. 

The Taurus Moon is also a very artistic moon and doubly so if you find it falls in the 5th or 7th house of your chart. While a Taurus Moon is often touted for its emphasis on the connection to the body and its natural appetites (or indulgences), the Taurus moon also seeks beauty for its own sake and enjoys the sensorial experience of engaging the body in service of acting, painting or cooking. When the moon moves goes into this earth sign later this evening, we'll have the patience to flow through projects rather than to initiate them. When the Moon is in Taurus, it's a good time to check in with an artistic project's "authenticity." Without the necessary though sometimes blinding enthusiasm of Aries, we are able to bring our brainchilds down to earth. Taurus energy loves to ground things and see, taste and touch things that other signs may be content to dream about. And just as we're getting use to that quality of energy, the Gemini Moon will awaken us to new possibilities for lift off and let us know if we have slipped into stagnation. This is the beauty of the Moon and its movement through the signs; each one correcting the excesses of the former and allowing us to create a more complete picture of our internal process.
